Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal became the center of attention after he was spotted at the Mumbai Family Court wearing a black T-shirt with the phrase “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy” printed on it. The bold fashion choice instantly went viral on social media, sparking a wave of memes and reactions. Fans were quick to interpret the message, with some speculating it was an indirect dig at the alimony settlement, while others saw it as a confident statement following his separation from choreographer Dhanashree Verma.
Chahal and Dhanashree’s marriage officially ended after the court granted them a divorce on March 20, 2025. The couple had filed a joint petition, which was accepted, dissolving their union after over two years of separation.
The proceedings were fast-tracked after the Bombay High Court intervened, waiving the six-month mandatory cooling-off period. The decision was influenced by Chahal’s impending IPL commitments, with the cricketer set to join Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2025 starting on March 22. Justice Madhav Jamdar directed the family court to finalize the divorce before March 21, as Chahal would be unavailable due to tournament duties.
Initially, the family court had denied the waiver, citing incomplete compliance with the consent terms. Chahal had agreed to pay ₹4.75 crore to Dhanashree as part of the settlement but had paid only ₹2.37 crore at the time. The High Court later ruled that since the second installment was scheduled post-divorce decree, the waiver could be granted.
Chahal and Verma, who tied the knot in December 2020, had reportedly been living separately since June 2022. Their divorce had been a topic of speculation for months, with both maintaining silence over the reasons for their split. Now, with the legal process behind him, Chahal is set to shift focus entirely to his IPL campaign. However, his viral T-shirt moment has ensured that social media isn’t moving on from his personal life just yet.
