The second marquee name of the day, Sophie Devine, entered the WPL 2026 Auction with a base price of Rs 50 lakh, and immediately triggered one of the fiercest bidding battles of the session.

The opening bid saw Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Giants lock horns, with rapid increments pushing the price upward. RCB, who had earlier secured Devine for Rs 50 lakh in the inaugural 2023 season, eventually backed out of the race.

Just when it appeared the Giants would close the deal uncontested, Delhi Capitals jumped in, intensifying the fight. The bid quickly surged past Rs 1.80 crore, drawing loud reactions from the auction hall.

After a tense back-and-forth, the hammer finally came down.

Sophie Devine — SOLD to Gujarat Giants for Rs 2 crore.

Devine brings proven match-winning credentials with her. She was part of RCB’s WPL 2024 title-winning squad, adding significant experience, power-hitting ability, and leadership to her new franchise as the Giants aim for a fresh rebuild.
