The WPL 2026 Auction continues to deliver major moments, and New Zealand star all-rounder Amelia Kerr has now emerged as one of the biggest buys of the day, returning to Mumbai Indians for a massive Rs 3 crore.
The session has already seen several surprises and intense bidding battles. The auction opened with Australia’s Alyssa Healy going unsold at her base price of Rs 50 lakh, followed by a dramatic fight for Sophie Devine, who was sold to Gujarat Giants for Rs 2 crore after a three-team contest involving RCB and Delhi Capitals. Soon after, Deepti Sharma was reclaimed by UP Warriorz through a Right-to-Match option after Delhi initially picked her for Rs 50 lakh.
Right after these early high-voltage moments, Amelia Kerr entered the auction list with a base price of Rs 50 lakh. Mumbai Indians wasted no time and went in aggressively for their star all-rounder.
Within minutes, MI secured her signature for Rs 3 crore, marking one of the highest buys of the auction so far.
This marks a homecoming for Kerr, who has been a crucial part of the Mumbai Indians setup since the inaugural WPL season in 2023. She played a major role in their 2023 championship win, delivering consistent all-round performances across spin and middle-order batting.
With her return, Mumbai Indians have reinforced their core ahead of the 2026 season, bringing back a player who has been central to their balance, strategy, and long-term plans.
More updates from the WPL 2026 Auction will follow as the bidding continues.
