The Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) have once again asserted their dominance in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), securing a direct spot in the final for the third consecutive season. Finishing as table-toppers in the group stage, DC-W won five out of their eight matches, accumulating 10 points with a net run rate (NRR) of +0.396. Despite stiff competition, they held their ground, ensuring a direct entry into the summit clash on March 15.
DC-W’s quest for maiden WPL title continues
Despite consistent performances over three seasons, DC-W are yet to lift the coveted WPL trophy. In the inaugural edition in 2023, they fell short against Mumbai Indians Women (MI-W) in the final. A year later, they faced RCB-W in the title clash, only to suffer another heartbreaking defeat. Now, with a third straight final appearance, Delhi will be determined to break their streak and finally etch their name in WPL history.
MI-W stumble, settle for second spot
MI-W had an opportunity to overtake DC-W at the top of the table in their final group-stage match against RCB-W. However, an 11-run defeat dashed their hopes, leaving them with 10 points—equal to DC-W—but an inferior NRR of +0.192. As a result, they now face Gujarat Giants (GG) in the eliminator on Thursday, with the winner earning the right to challenge DC-W in the grand finale.
Gujarat Giants secure final playoff spot
GG became the third team to qualify for the playoffs, sealing their place in the eliminator against MI-W. Meanwhile, RCB-W and UP Warriorz (UP-W) ended their campaigns with six points each, finishing in the bottom two.
The eliminator match between MI-W and GG will determine who DC-W will face in the final match that will be played at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
