The ODI warm-up match between South Africa and Afghanistan was called off at Thiruvananthapuram on Friday. Both teams headed to their respective hotels. The umpires called off the game after an inspection of the ground, calling it ‘still wet to play’.
While Afghanistan will fly to Guwahati for their second warm-up game, the Proteas’ will play New Zealand at the same venue, i.e., Greenfield International Stadium, on Monday.
However, the IMD has raised an orange alert in various southern regions, including Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Kannur, and Kasaragod. For the remaining states, a yellow alert has been issued.
