Dhoni has always considered Sachin as a role model and had said that his humility and passion for the game was an inspiration to everyone.
“When we were growing up, we used to watch Sachin, he was like God to all of us. He had that aura around him,” Dhoni had once said in an interaction with the Indian diaspora organized in New Jersey.
Dhoni is also the only second Indian player to achieve the 350-game mark in ODI, after Tendulkar.
MS Dhoni had made his debut against Bangladesh in 2004 and played his first ODI against Pakistan. Fans all around the world were surprised by his announcement triggering an outpouring of affection on social media.
