Will BCCI handover T20 coaching role to VVS Laxman?

In a review meeting, the BCCI made numerous changes and discussed the Indian cricket roadmap with the 2023 ODI World Cup in mind.

The top cricketing body has reportedly already found a replacement for Rahul Dravid to serve as Team India’s head coach, according to a News 18 Cricketnext report. In the event that Dravid decides not to extend his contract, VVS Laxman will take over as captain of the team in place of his former India teammate after the November 2023 ODI World Cup.

We don’t think this is the right time to make a change in coaching. We still have some time for T20 World Cup. If needed, we can take a call later on,” a BCCI official who attended the meeting told InsideSport.

As of right now, BCCI’s coaching policy has not changed. The T20 coach will continue to be Rahul Dravid. VVS Laxman, however, will be in charge of the T20 team for smaller tours due to the emphasis on ODIs and Tests. Any decision regarding split coaching will be made after consulting the CAC. But it is not anticipated until the World Cup in October.

In Rahul Dravid’s absence, Laxman has already handled a number of coaching duties with Team India. When VVS Laxman took over as coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid had just received a COVID-19 diagnosis and the Asia Cup 2022 was the most well-known competition. After Dravid had recovered and had returned to his position from before the first game against Pakistan, he left Pakistan and went back to India.
