Virat Kohli is set to return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy on December 24 after nearly 15 years, marking a rare appearance in domestic one-day cricket. According to DDCA president Rohan Jaitley, the India batter has officially confirmed his availability for the tournament, with Delhi opening their campaign against Andhra in Bengaluru.

Kohli last featured in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in February 2010, when he turned out for Delhi against Services. Since then, his international commitments have kept him away from domestic 50-over cricket, as he went on to establish himself as one of the world’s leading ODI batters.

Now 37, Kohli continues to represent India exclusively in the ODI format. He recently smashed his 52nd ODI hundred in Ranchi during the ongoing series against South Africa, showing no signs of slowing down despite stepping away from T20Is after India’s 2024 World Cup win and retiring from Test cricket earlier this year.

While it remains unclear how many matches he will play this season, his presence is expected to draw large crowds. Delhi are scheduled for six league games, and Kohli’s return adds a significant boost to the dressing room.
