What will India’s position on WTC be if Australia ties the series at 2-2

Australian side have bounced back well in the third Test match against India. Indian cricket team had no answers to the questions Australian bowlers and batters asked in the game in Indore. After this loss, the series is now at 2-1 and the final game will be an important one. India was expected to sweep Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after winning the first two games. The visitors, however, made a strong comeback in the third Test, outplaying the hosts in the Indore Test by chasing a mere 76-run target in the final innings.

If Australia outperforms India in the final Test, the India-Australia Test series will end in a 2-2 draw. If Sri Lanka defeats New Zealand 2-0, they will qualify for the WTC final. However, Sri Lanka must sweep the Kiwis in the series. A 1-0 win or a 1-1 tie will not allow Sri Lanka to move up to second place in the World Test Championship points table.

As a result, India’s qualification to the WTC final is heavily reliant on the outcome of the Sri Lanka vs. New Zealand series. Because Sri Lanka will be playing on foreign soil, it will be difficult for Sri Lanka to sweep New Zealand in the series. In the game of cricket, however, anything can happen.
