We could do better with our batting in middle overs: Rahul Dravid

Head coach of Indian cricket team Rahul Dravid feels that ineffective bowling and batting in the middle overs costs them the ODI series against South Africa.

After losing the three-match Test series by 2-1 against South Africa, India lost the ODI series as well. The ODI series loss was more humiliating as KL Rahul’s men were clean swept by South Africans. South Africa didn’t let India win a single game and lift the ODI series trophy deservingly. South Africa captain Temba Bavuma managed his team very well against the tough visitors. He did tell before this series that it will give a huge boost to their team if they managed to win this three-match ODI series against India.

There weren’t many positives to take for the Indian cricket team from this series as they were beaten by 3-0. Head coach of India Rahul Dravid feels that middle overs batting performance let us down and costs us this series. He also blames India’s ineffective bowling in the South African pitches which proved costly too. Dravid thinks that there were some of the players who were missing who would have made a huge difference by balancing this squad.

“We certainly could do better with our batting in middle overs. I think some of the guys who help us balance the squad and give us those all-round options at No. 6,7 and 8 were probably not here,” Rahul Dravid said to TNN as reported by TOI.

It is surely not a good few days for the new head coach of India Rahul Dravid as since he has been given this role, he hasn’t managed to win a single series. India will be facing West Indies at home for the 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is starting from 6th February.
