We are expecting Bumrah, maybe even Prasidh to be fit: Ashwin on ICC World Cup squad

Indian cricket enthusiasts are anxiously awaiting updates regarding Jasprit Bumrah’s condition for the upcoming ODI World Cup in 2023. Bumrah, who underwent a back surgery last year, is presently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy.

Indian cricketer and teammate Ravichandran Ashwin has provided a positive update, expressing confidence that Bumrah will regain fitness in time for the prestigious tournament. Currently, Bumrah is gradually increasing his workload by bowling seven overs daily at the NCA.

His progress is being closely monitored, and a decision on his inclusion in the Ireland series will be taken after a comprehensive evaluation of his fitness. Bumrah’s return would significantly strengthen the Indian team, alongside other potential comebacks. Indian fans are eagerly anticipating the dominating pacer’s return for the ODI World Cup.

The last few games between India and Pakistan in the ICC events have been extraordinary, to say the least. I think we can expect another blockbuster India-Pakistan game. It’s going to be a very equally-balanced game because Pakistan have a quality seam attack. For India, obviously, we are expecting Bumrah, maybe even Prasidh. All these guys to be fit.

Prasidh Krishna is currently in the recovery phase from a stress fracture. He last played during the tour of Zimbabwe in August 2022. Unfortunately, since then, Prasidh has been sidelined for several significant events, including the Asia Cup, New Zealand Tour, Bangladesh tour, ODI series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, as well as the IPL 2023 season. Currently, he is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The stress fracture has kept him out of action for an extended period, but he is focused on regaining his fitness and making a strong comeback.
