Rohit Sharma, in a candid conversation with journalist Vimal Kumar on YouTube, opened up about how Indian cricketers deal with criticism and public pressure — especially in the wake of heartbreaking moments like the 2023 World Cup final loss. With his usual calm yet assertive tone, the India captain explained that the current generation of players are mentally tough and have learned to filter out negativity.
“Agar criticism players pe aata toh abhi ghar jaake player so jata, bistar pe leta hota, bolta mereko darr lag raha hai, mujhe sab gaali de rahe hai,” Rohit quipped, sarcastically describing how criticism is blown out of proportion.
He further asserted that the Indian dressing room is full of mentally strong individuals:
“Sab moti chamdi ke hai… Most of us don’t get affected. Even if a few do, they recover quickly.”
As someone who has been under the spotlight for nearly two decades, Rohit made it clear that public opinion does not shape his mindset anymore.
“About me — I’m in this business for the long term now. It doesn’t affect me at all,” he said with conviction.
These remarks come as Rohit transitions into the final chapter of his international career, having retired from T20Is and Tests, with the 2027 ODI World Cup now in his sights. His comments not only reflect his personal resilience but also underline the mental strength required to play for India in an era of 24/7 scrutiny.
