Wanindu Hasranga tests positve for COVID-19, placed in isolation

Hasanraga was bought by RCB in the IPL mega auction for 10.75 crores.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed on Tuesday that all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the third T20I match against Austalia, which will be held at Manuka Oval. Australia will take on Sri Lanka in the third ODI later today.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SlC) tweeted about the same on their official Twitter Handle.

Earlier the SLC confirmed that Kushal Mendis who had missed the first two ODI’s due to getting infected by COVID-19 has recovered and is available for the selection of the third T20I against Australia. Also, Binura Fernando was found to be in contact with the COVID-19 virus and will miss the third T20I

The Aussies have a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series and if the Australian skipper makes sure that the home side wins the third T20I match, the visitors will not be able to make a comeback in the series.

Earlier, Wanindu Hasaranga was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the TATA IPL mega auction for a hefty price of 10.75 crores which took place in Bengaluru last weekend.

The all-rounder scored a total of 26 runs in the first two T20I’s and managed to take a total of 5 wickets. Hasaranga will be missed by Sri Lanka’s bowling unit in the third T20I against Australia.

Sri Lanka has to play the next three T20I’s against Australia in the upcoming days to complete its overseas tour after which the side will travel to India for Two Test matches and a 3 match T20I series.
