When India takes the field at Kennington Oval in London for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, all eyes will once again be on their former captain, Virat Kohli.
Kohli’s performances at the Oval have been a mix of success and struggle. In 2014, he endured a difficult time, being dismissed cheaply in both innings. However, in previous outings, he showcased his prowess by accumulating more than 130 runs, including two half-centuries, across four innings on the same ground.
Now, Kohli has an opportunity to surpass another Indian batting legend, Rahul Dravid, in terms of Test runs against Australia. Dravid was a formidable opponent for the Aussies, amassing 2143 runs in 60 innings, featuring two centuries and 13 half-centuries.
Currently, Kohli occupies the fifth position among Indian batsmen with the most runs against Australia, having scored 1979 runs in 42 innings. To break Dravid’s record, he needs to score 164 runs in the upcoming WTC final.
With the stakes high and the pressure mounting, Kohli will aim to deliver a memorable performance to not only lead India to glory but also etch his name in the record books by surpassing Dravid’s remarkable achievement.
