Indian batter Virat Kohli has confirmed that he will be available to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy starting December 24, news agency PTI reported, quoting Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley.

Kohli, who now represents India only in ODIs, is currently part of the ongoing series against South Africa. The 37-year-old will return to the Hazare Trophy for the first time since February 2010, when he last played the domestic one-day tournament against Services.

Kohli recently struck his 52nd ODI century in the series opener in Ranchi, underlining his form despite featuring in just one format. Earlier this year, he announced his retirement from Test cricket, while he had stepped away from T20Is after India’s 2024 World Cup triumph in Barbados.

“He has confirmed his availability to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. How many games he will feature in is not clear yet. Obviously, him being around will be a massive boost to the Delhi dressing room,” Jaitley told PTI.

Delhi will begin their Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign against Andhra in Bengaluru on December 24 and are scheduled to play six matches in the league phase.

Large crowds are expected with Kohli set to feature in domestic cricket once again.
