Currently, Kohli is at the sixth spot in the overall list. The International Cricket Council (ICC) took to Twitter to share the news saying, ‘Virat Kohli- the first cricket star to hit 100 million followers on Instagram.’

Instagram is not the only platform where Kohli is the most followed, he has 40.8 million followers on Twitter and over 36 million likes on Facebook.

Interestingly, it took Kohli just a year to reach 100 million followers from 50 million followers. He had become the first Indian to get 50 million followers on Instagram in February 2020.

In the last five years, this fan following has increased ten folds. In January 2017, he had around 10 million Instagram followers, it increased to 20 million by March 2018 and kept on raising and in January 2021, he had around 90 million followers.

Currently, he is leading the Indian cricket team 2-1 in the ongoing Test series against England.
