‘Virat can break Sachin Tendulkar’s Most ODI centuries record before IPL 2023’ former Indian opener’s bold statement

The social media discussion about when Kohli will surpass Tendulkar’s 49-ODI century record was sparked by the right-handed batter’s 46th ODI century against Sri Lanka.

Earlier on Sunday, India defeated Sri Lanka with a record 317-run victory in the third ODI to clean sweep the series, Virat Kohli with an epic 166 not out, scored his third century in the last four innings.

, Virat Kohli scored his 46th ODI century. Kohli will break Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most ODI hundreds with four more centuries. Tendulkar had a career total of 49 ODI hundreds, compared to Kohli’s 46.

As the greatest of all time reached beyond 150 runs and lifted his bat for the third time in the same match, Virat Kohli continued to smash after his 74th century. Virat Kohli finished the game “not-out,” scoring 166* runs, including 8 sixes, which is the most runs he has ever scored. Virat is typically known for playing over the ropes rather than striking down the ground.

Fromer Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar predicts that the chase master will surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI centuries. Beginning on January 18, India will play New Zealand in a three-match ODI series before playing three ODIs against Australia. Kohli could very well score four centuries and surpass Tendulkar’s record if he continues in his current form and attitude.

“The form that he is in, the way that he is playing right now…now we have three matches against New Zealand and three more against Australia. So we have six ODIs before IPL. And all he needs is his three centuries. The way he is batting right now, why shouldn’t we feel that those three hundreds happen before the IPL,” he said.
