Viacom18 has secured exclusive broadcast rights for the upcoming three-match T20 series between India and Ireland (IND vs IRE), marking their first venture into India’s cricket match rights arena.
This unprecedented move expands Viacom18’s cricket content portfolio beyond their IPL and WPL deals. In an announcement on Friday, Viacom18 revealed that the series will be showcased on Sports18 and streamed live on the JioCinema platform. The series, commencing on August 18 in Dublin, will witness the return of Jasprit Bumrah, who will captain a second-string Indian team as Hardik Pandya takes a break before the Asia Cup 2023.
The IND vs IRE T20 series holds dual importance, acting as preparation for the Asian Games 2023 squad and a vital training ground for Bumrah’s reintegration after a year-long absence due to injury. Ruturaj Gaikwad, designated to lead in the Asian Games, will serve as the vice-captain for the series.
The squad composition includes emerging talents such as Yashasvi Jaiswal and established players like Sanju Samson and Washington Sundar.
