The BCCI has announced the venues for the entire English visit to India in the month of February next year. This will be the return of cricket to India as they play a home series for the first time since the pandemic hit. The South African team was in India during March 2020 when the cases were seeing a worrying rise and the tour was called off midway. The IPL which was on verge to be cancelled this year was also shifted to the UAE.
As the cricket returns to India, it will not be possible for every state to get right back into hosting matches. Hence the tour will be played at limited stadiums so that the travel part will be avoided and the safety as well as the health of players will be looked after by the governing body of the respective state.
This will be full tour which means that all the three formats will be played in this series. The series will start with tests as these will be part of the WTC. The third test will be a day/night test which will be held at the newly built Motera stadium. The first two tests will be played in the Chennai while the fourth one will also be played at the Motera stadium. The test series will be followed by T20’s as all five T20’s will be played at the Motera stadium. The tour will end with ODI’s as the English team will face the Indian side in 3 ODI’s.
The team might be announced by the first week of January as the Indian team is in Australia right now for their Aussie tour.
