Two UAE players found guilty of trying to fix matches

Two United Arab Emirates-based cricketers were found guilty on Tuesday. They tried to fix T20 World Cup qualifying matches in 2019.

The UAE captain Mohammad Naveed and Shaiman Anwar had breached two rules in the ICC anti-corruption code. They were charged in October 2019, days before the qualifiers started.

According to ICC: “being party to an agreement or effort to fix or contrive or otherwise influence improperly the result, progress, conduct or another aspect (s) of a match or matches”.

ICC did not disclose the specific matches. Both the players have been suspended.

Naveed, fast bowler, was also found guilty of fixing matches in Abu Dhabi based T10 league in 2019.
