BCCI congratulates Jasprit Bumrah for his seventh five wicket haul on January 12, as he becomes the third Indian player to take a five wicket haul in this particular India vs South Africa Test series. BCCI reminds the fans that all the three Test matches witnessed a five-fer by the Indian pacers, with Mohammed Shami initiating this five wicket haul at the historical Centurion stadium, followed by Shardul’s 7 wickets in 17.5 overs in Johannesburg. And Jasprit’s five-fer in the decider game follows the tradition.
All the three bowlers seem to have a good click with Paras Mhambrey, as revealed by BCCI via twitter. The South African pitch seems to encourage the fast bowlers from the start of the series as the spinners do not get an opportunity to outshine in any of the games. Ashwin has only been able to take 3 wickets all total in the 3 Tests he played. Kagiso Rabada stands up the rank for most wickets in this particular series, followed by Marco Jansen and Shami.
Jasprit Bumrah has been performing stunningly, bagging in 11 wickets with an average of 20.64 and an amazing economy of 2.61. Jasprit has one innings left to bowl and create a history of taking another 5 wicket haul in the same match.
Shardul Thakur has the best bowling figures of 7-61 with an amazing bowling strike rate of 33.73. Shardul has bowled a total of 61.5 overs, holding 11 wickets in hand and still left with one last innings to mark another great bowling figure.
Mohammed Shami’s sensational 5 wicket haul was one of the reasons of India’s lead in this Test series. Shami assisted India a great victory where India lead the Test series with 1-0, after winning at the historical Centurion stadium. Shami’s 13 crucial wickets have helped India in this series.
With India leading by 70 runs, the bowling unit is fired up to win this critical series and waiting for the South Africans to come and bat again with a hope of achieving a good lead by the experienced batsmen of Kohli-lead team. The decider game is still on the verge and the favour keeps changing session by session, as both the teams are grinding hard to achieve their first win of the year 2022.
