The Hundred is the men’s cricket competition which is currently going on in the major cities across England and Wales. In this competition, 8 women’s teams and 8 men’s teams participate. One of the men’s teams has made a record by scoring 200 runs in the competition for the first time in history. Northern superchargers are the ones to do so.

In a match against Manchester Originals in Emerald Headingley Stadium, Northern Superchargers were made to bat first by the opponents after losing the toss. Northern Superchargers came to bat and it was Kohler-Cadmore and Mumbai Indians opening batsman Chris Lynn who opened the innings for the Superchargers. But after hitting two-sixes in the 12th and 13th ball Chris Lynn got out in the next ball by Finn. In the 65th ball, Superchargers lost their 4th wicket and left-handed batsman John Simpson came to the crease. He batted aggressively and made the score reach 200. It was not looking possible for the Superchargers to reach this score, but John Simpson made it look so easy and gets his team to 200-5 after 100 balls. Originals dropped too many catches which also played a key role in reaching such a massive score.

It was the first time in the history of The Hundred that any team scored 200. John Simpson hits a remarkable 71 runs from just 28 balls. The score was way more than the Manchester Originals would have expected. The final score of Originals was 131 all out after 99 balls. The superchargers won this game by 69 runs and John Simpson was awarded as the man of the match for his amazing batting display.
