England Cricket Association has decided to name the left-handed batsman and right-arm Spin bowler Moeen Ali as vice-captain of England team for their fourth Test against India. The fourth Test is been scheduled to play from 2nd September to 6 September at the Oval cricket ground.
Virat Kohli’s men are currently in England for their five-match Test series. The Test match series between England and India is tied at 1-1 after three matches. The first Test was ruined by heavy rain and India created history by winning the second one at Lord’s Cricket Ground. England made a brighter comeback in the third Test as they demolished India and won the match by an innings and 76 runs.
England had some absentees in their team including their regular vice-captain Ben Stokes and Stuart board who was being given the role after Stokes injury. England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler was named as the vice-captain after Board left the team due to a calf injury for the entire series. As England Cricket Association announced on Monday that Jos Buttler is also not available for the fourth Test against India due to the birth of his second child, his role now has been passed out to Moeen Ali for the fourth Test. The English batsman Jonny Bairstow will be the wicket-keeper in this match following Buttler’s absence.
“Moeen Ali has been named as our Vice-Captain for the fourth Test against India. Congrats, Mo,” England Cricket tweeted on Wednesday.
