“Technology shocker” Controversy erupts over Joe Root’s dismissal by R Ashwin in IND v ENG, 4th test

Joe Root was given out off R Ashwin’s delivery after the delivery hit pads. India DRS move changed the decision but erupted controversy, terming it technology shocker and unfair.

The England cricket team, which is down by 2-1 in the 5-match series, has been one of the best performing sides in India against India. The English side that is playing spin very well with their cricketing approach, “bazball, has given the team India a fierce look, majorly neutralizing the likes of R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav. Joe Root, one of the top English batsman parallel to the stature of Virat Kohli scored a century in the first inning after England chose to bat first.

In the second inning, the batsman seemed in good touch until R Ashwin’s delivery caught him off-guard, dismissing the batsmen of a DRS review by India. Joe Root’s dismissal has raised eye brows as the fans suspect that the DRS has been rigged by the BCCI. The decision is being considered unfair and “not out”.

Michael Vaughan, one of the English cricketing legends, called the decision as a technology shocker and the ball came up red even though it pitched outside leg stump. He said, “The Root dismissal was a shocker for the technology. Over half looked to have pitched outside leg stump but it came up red.”
