Former Indian cricketer and current head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team, Gautam Gambhir, has received a death threat allegedly from ISIS Kashmir, shortly after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians on April 22.
Gambhir filed a formal complaint with the Delhi Police on Wednesday and has requested urgent security measures for the safety of his family. Security agencies have reportedly begun investigating the origin and credibility of the threat.
Gambhir, who also served as a BJP Member of Parliament from Delhi, has been a vocal figure on national security issues. The threat message comes at a time when tensions are high following one of the deadliest terror attacks in recent memory, which is believed to have been orchestrated by The Resistance Front, a Pakistan-based banned terror group.
Global condemnation continues to pour in over the Pahalgam massacre, and authorities remain on high alert.
