The IPL auction to be held in the month of February as there are lot of excitement among the fans as this year’s auction is different than the normal one. It is a mega auction. Thus, there are lot of talented and good players who will be seen in the auction as the teams were only been given the chance to retain three players from each team. The players who can literally cross the bidding price of INR 15 crores and more are: –
KL Rahul
One of the most classic batsmen globally is likely to be a part of auctions this year. Rahul joined King’s XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2018 and has been the most consistent batter of the franchise since then, scoring 600 runs in each season. He is the franchise’s highest run-scorer, with 2548 runs in just 55 innings. He became Punjab’s captain in 2020 and helped the team grow but couldn’t take the team into the playoffs.
The team has released KL Rahul in the retention window. Rahul will likely join the Lucknow team this year. Rahul holds a brilliant batting stat in the IPL with 3273 runs from 94 matches at the strike rate of 136.38. KL Rahul will be the player to watch out for in this year’s auction.
Shreyas Iyer
The Indian Batsman, known for his style on and off the field, will be a part of auctions this year. Shreyas Iyer made his IPL debut for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals in 2015); Delhi bought him for INR 2.6 crore, the highest amount an uncapped player made that year. Delhi was performing well in the starting seasons of the IPL but could not qualify for the playoff. Shreyas took over Delhi’s captaincy in 2018 and played a crucial role in the development of the side; Delhi reached the Playoffs in 2019 after seven years and reached the finals for the first time in 2020. Shreyas Iyer, with 2375 runs, is the third-highest run-scorer for the franchise, behind Rishabh Pant (2498) and Virender Sehwag (2382). Iyer would be a valuable asset for any side with his batting skills and leadership skills.
Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin regained his spot in the Indian team the past year, after his downfall in 2019. Ashwin is on the verge of completing 150 IPL wickets and is known for his variations and classical spin deliveries. He also has Test hundred under his name, suggesting his batting skills. He holds an economy of 6.91, which is incredible in T20s and has taken 164 IPL wickets. Delhi Capital released Ashwin in the retention window as Axar Patel was picked ahead.
