India opener Ishan Kishan required medical attention after an incident in the eighth over of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group A clash against Pakistan at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, on Sunday.

The moment occurred on the fifth delivery of the eighth over when Shadab Khan bowled a slow, tossed-up delivery at the stumps. Kishan attempted a reverse sweep but lost his balance while executing the shot. The ball was dragged past short third, and the batters completed two runs as a diving fielder managed to get a hand to it, taking pace off the ball before it was cut off in the deep.

Following the play, Kishan went down on the ground and received treatment from the team physio. He was seen lying on his back while his right leg was being stretched.

At the time of the incident, India were 82 for 1 in 8 overs, with Kishan batting on 72 off 37 deliveries.

Further updates on his condition are awaited.
