The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has made a strategic move by appointing former West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo as the national cricket team’s bowling consultant for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Bravo is set to join the team during their preparatory camp ahead of the marquee event in the Caribbean.
Afghanistan has already arrived in St. Kitts and Nevis, where they are expected to commence a 10-day long training camp as part of their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Bravo will oversee the coaching staff during this crucial phase, lending his expertise to the team’s bowling unit.
Bravo boasts an illustrious international career, having played 295 matches for the West Indies, scoring 6423 runs and claiming 363 wickets across formats. Additionally, he has represented various domestic teams, accumulating a wealth of experience with 100 First Class, 227 List A, and 573 T20 appearances.
Notably, Bravo is currently the leading wicket-taker in T20 cricket, with an impressive tally of 625 scalps to his name in the format. He has also amassed nearly 7000 runs in the shortest format of the game.
Apart from his stellar playing career, Bravo brings coaching expertise to the table, currently serving as the bowling coach of the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
