The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium hosts a lot of spectators for Bangladesh Premier League games. But there has been disappointment that Sylhet won’t be able to host international matches.

Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, the board representative for Sylhet Division, recently expressed his disappointment over the stadium’s lack of opportunities to host international teams and added that they had taken all necessary steps to host international matches.

Nizamuddin acknowledged that he shared Nadel’s disappointment and added that they were considering the possibility of hosting England practise matches at the stadium. In addition, he noted that Ireland would perform there when they visited Bangladesh.

“We have some plans, while touring team have some demands, and after taking everything into consideration, we select the venues. From that point, we had a plan to play practice games of England and we were planning to hold that in Sylhet. But, eventually, England team are only willing to play the official matches and so that could not be materialized.

“We are hosting Ireland in Sylhet, so this is not a fact that we are not using that venue and we want to use every venue by playing it at different times,” he said.

Ireland will kickstart their tour following the England series with ODIs in Sylhet.
