The former Tamil Nadu skipper and homegrown giant Sridharan Sharath are set to become the new chairman of the BCCI junior national selection panel. The new panel that is to be announced soon shall be entrusted with the duty of selecting Team India’s next U-19 squad for the upcoming 2022 Under-19 World Cup.
Sridharan Sharath, a former Indian cricketer who played first-class cricket for the Tamil Nadu cricket team. The left-handed batsman has marked 8390 runs in 134 games that comprised 27 centuries with an average of 51.47. Sharath was unquestionably a gifted cricketer and was said to be one of the most prolific batsmen in Domestic cricket however, he never got to represent his nation at Test and ODI cricket although he played for India A on several occasions. He is the only player for Tamil Nadu to have played a hundred Ranji Trophy games.
It is learnt that the names listed down by the BCCI are from the different regions of the country. The shortlist included the likes of Krishna Mohan a former Punjab batting all-rounder from the NorthZone, Harvinder Singh Sodhi who is a more well-known character from the Central Zone and Ranadeb Bose from the East Zone who happens to be the most experienced out of the other candidates have picked up 317 wickets in the 91 matches he has played for India in senior-level cricket.
