Sri Lanka Cricket, on Friday (February 24), announced a 17-member squad led by Dimuth Karunaratne.

For the upcoming two-match series against New Zealand, Chamika Karunaratne has returned to the Sri Lanka Test squad while Nishan Madushka and Milan Rathnayake have received their first Test calls-ups. Since his Test debut in February 2019 against Australia, Karunaratne has not participated in a single Test match. In the second first-class match he played against the Lions, he claimed four wickets. In a List A match, he also faced the same team and scored fifty.

Lahiru Kumara, whose last Test match was against India in March 2022, is also a member of the squad. The team that played Pakistan in a Test series in July of last year was missing Dunith Wellalage, Lakshitha Manasinghe, Jeffrey Vandersay, Pathum Nissanka, and Dilshan Madushanka.
