South African veteran JP Duminy appointed as national team’s batting coach

South Africa announced that former batter JP Duminy has been named full-time batting coach for the country’s white-ball teams. Duminy most recently coached the Paarl Royals in the SA20, while also serving as head coach of the Paarl Rocks. He previously worked as a batting consultant for the Lions.

Rory Kleinveldt will serve as the bowling coach for the white-ball teams during the series, while Lions head coach Wandile Gwavu will serve as the makeshift fielding coach. The CSA stated that the permanent bowling and fielding coaches will be announced at a later date.

“JP has been a great servant of South African cricket over the years and to have him on board as a coach adds immense value for two reasons. He is a developing coach and his experience as a player, so we look forward to having him on board,” said Nkwe. “Rory is another man that has played the game for a number of years and having him join us bodes well for the bowling group. I would also like to welcome Wandile on board. He is a proven coach as we saw with the success he brought to the DP World Lions. By the same token, I want to thank the Lions for availing Wandile to assist his country for the tour.”
