South Africa yet to qualify for World Cup 2023; announces squad for crucial series against England

This three-game series against England is an essential part of South Africa’s final push to qualify for the World Cup in India later this year.

South Africa have announced 16-man squad for their upcoming three-match ODI series against England at home.

All-rounders Sisanda Magala and Marco Jansen have received recalls from South Africa for the upcoming three-match One-Day International series against England.

Despite a recent slump in white ball cricket performance, Temba Bavuma has kept his position as captain of this squad, which has a recognisable aesthetic.

“We are also pleased with the inclusion of Sisanda and the commitment he has shown to meet the fitness standards required for national selection,” Convener of Selectors Victor Mpitsang said.

“Shukri will oversee the series in consultation with Rob (Walter), who is currently in New Zealand as he prepares to assume his role ahead of the start of his tenure as limited-overs coach, which comes into effect from 01 February.”
