SL vs ZIM: Zimbabwe win the second ODI, level the series by 1-1

Captain Ervine leads the team with an example and is also honored as the man of the match for the second ODI.

With fantastic performance, Zimbabwe levels the series with a win by 22 runs in the second ODI at Palllekele. Zimbabwe seems to be happy with their overall performance and is delighted with the consistent batting performance in this series. Zimbabwe scored 296 in the first match but was not able to win as the hosts managed to chase the target. Yet again Zimbabwe scored a decent total of 302-8 with skipper Craig Ervine’s brilliant performance of 91 off 98.

Ervine led the Zimbabwe team, initiating a decent start and the top order managed to help the middle orders to come out and bat freely without any burden of scoring runs. Sean Williams and Raza managed to score for the team taking them to 302.

Captain Shanaka coming down at 6 hit a century off just 94 balls and the skipper with a ton seemed to grab away the series with this win but was unable to stand till the end, getting out by Chatara who took a total of 3 wickets in the game. With Shanaka coming at the 6th down, Sri Lanka’s top order seems to struggle and the middle order looks a bit stretched.

Both the captains performed well for the team and the series is at the level of 1-1. The last game will be the series decider and the hosts might try to win hoping for better performance, while Zimbabwe will eye the opportunity to grab this away series win, having performed consistently in both games.
