Shubman Gill enters a unique record held by Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar

Shubman Gill has entered a unique record to his name as the youngster after his unbeaten 98 during West Indies v India, 3rd ODI, joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Virendra Sehwag.

The Indian team registered a massive 119-run victory over West Indies in the 3rd ODI against West Indies. Shubman Gill played a crucial knock to lead India in a match that was twice interrupted by rain. India at the helm scored 225-3 in 36 overs in a match that was reduced to 40 overs for each side. Shikhar Dhawan played an anchoring inning of 58 off 74 balls; Shreyas Iyer chipped in with a quick 44 off 34 balls. Shubman Gill stood a top pick among the batters for his 98 off 98 balls but missed a well-deserving century.

With his contribution, Shubman Gill entered a list record held by Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and Virendra Sehwag. Gill joined the list to become another batter to remain unbeaten in the 90s.

  • 93* – Kris Srikkanth
  • 92* – Sunil Gavaskar
  • 96* – Sachin Tendulkar
  • 99* – Virender Sehwag
  • 97* – Shikhar Dhawan
  • 98* – Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill was run-out for his casual running in the second ODI which disappointed the batsman and also attracted harsh criticism. In the 3rd ODI, the opener seemed in much control but the frequent rain halted his hundred. Yuzvendra Chahal rattled the West Indies batting line up by picking up 4 wickets in 4 overs play. India whitewashed the series and continued its winning streak.
