India has revealed its formidable 17-man Test squad for the upcoming series against South Africa, with Shreyas Iyer making a noteworthy comeback. The talented right-handed batter, absent since March this year, secured his place in the squad, marking a significant return.
In a surprising turn of events, veteran batters Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara did not secure spots in the lineup for the impending IND vs SA Test series.
Notably, spinner Kuldeep Yadav faced exclusion once again, as the selectors opted for a squad aligned with the pace-friendly conditions expected. The pace attack will witness the reunion of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, uniting for the first time since the one-off Test against England in 2022.
India kicked off the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle on a triumphant note, sweeping the West Indies in their own backyard. However, the forthcoming Test series against South Africa is anticipated to present a fresh set of challenges for the Indian squad.
