Shreyas Iyer cleared for competitive games, DC worried over captaincy

After intense rehabilitation and fitness tests in NCA for a week, Iyer is declared fit for competitive cricket.

Delhi Capital’s star player and former captain Shreyas Iyer was out from competitive cricket due to his injury. He is set to make a return for Delhi Capitals for the rest of the IPL that is going to resume in UAE which was postponed due to COVID-19.

The 26 years old who has represented India in 22 ODIs and 29 T20 Internationals suffered from a shoulder dislocation during an ODI against England in Pune. He had to go through surgery in the United Kingdom.

“Based on all medical and physical parameters, he is now ready to play matches This couldn’t have happened at a better time with India’s T20 World Cup campaign in two months,” said a senior BCCI as per PTI

This is a great time for Iyer to make a comeback as the World Cup squad for India is yet to be announced and also the big question in Delhi Capital’s camp has raised about the leadership role whether they should continue with the backup of Iyer, Rishabh Pant who lead the side in the absence of Iyer or should Shreyas himself take the role. Though Pant is a leading superstar and the poster boy however the last season of IPL was best for DC as they reached the Final for the first time under Iyer’s captaincy so this will be a tough call by the tea management.
