“Shocking to see Pujara being the vice-captain when you have Pant,” former Indian cricketer reacts to BCCI’s decision

Indian cricket team will play two Test matches against Bangladesh after the three-match ODI series. The first Test match between the two will be played on 14th December, Wednesday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The Indian team’s skipper Rohit Sharma is out of this series due to the injury he sustained during the second ODI against Bangladesh.

Indian cricket team opener KL Rahul has been named captain for this Test match. Cheteshwar Pujara has been named as vice-captain of the Indian team. There are also four new names added to the Indian squad by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the first Test match against Bangladesh.

The selection of Cheteshwar Pujara as vice-captain for the first Test match against Bangladesh, which begins on December 14 at Chittagong, has prompted a response from former India batter Mohammad Kaif.

The last time India brought in a stand-in captain, Rishabh Pant was promoted to be the deputy and with constant changes in the leadership role, former cricketer Mohammad Kaif reacted unpleasantly. Kaif in a recent media conversation with NDTV stated that he is shocked to see BCCI choosing Pujara as the vice-captain.

“Shocking that Pujara was made vice-captain. Pant scored a century in the last Test when he was the vice-captain.”
