Shakib-Al-Hasan takes a break from cricket due to his ‘mental and physical health’

Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been rested by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) from all forms of cricket till April 30.

Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been rested by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) from all forms of cricket till April 30. The BCB has said in its statement that, ” Due to Shakib Al Hasan’s mental and physical state, he is being given a break from cricket till April 30, he will be away from cricket and work on his mental and physical health.”According to ESPNCricinfo.

Shakib Al Hasan was also selected in the team for three ODIs and two Test matches to be held in South Africa, but only 3 days after the selection, Shakib Al Hasan made an announcement and asked for a break from cricket for some time.

According to ESPNCricinfo, BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Yunus said, “before leaving for South Africa on Sunday, Shakib told me that he is mentally and physically a little upset and is not enjoying cricket at the moment, due to which he wants a break from cricket.” Shakib Al Hasan said that he does not want to go on South Africa tour either. Yunus said that he had given Shakib some time as well but Shakib has maintained his opinion and he wants to stay away from cricket for some time.

Yunus said in his statement that, “he wants to rest Shakib at this time keeping in view the future as Bangladesh also has to play the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia at the end of the year, for which Shakib’s mental and physical fitness is important. Apart from this, Shakib will also not participate in the Dhaka Premier League starting from March 15.

Yunus criticized Shakib Al Hasan saying that he has set a very bad example for the team which is a very bad sign for the rest of the team members.

The Bangladesh team is now looking a bit weak on the South Africa tour and it is going to be a very tough challenge for Bangladesh to beat South Africa in South Africa.
