Shakib Al Hasan becomes the third cricketer to reach 7000 runs and 300 wickets

Only the second Bangladeshi batter to reach 7000 ODI runs in the history of the game.

The Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has become the third cricketer in ODIs to score 7000 runs and take 300 wickets. He joined Sanath Jayasuriya and Shahid Afridi on the list when he reached 24 runs in the first ODI against Ireland in Sylhet. In terms of runs scored, he is second only to Tamim Iqbal, who has 8146 runs in the format for Bangladesh. Shakib reached the milestone with a single off Curtis Campbell in the 20th over of the Bangladesh innings.

Shakib also reached 300 wickets during Bangladesh’s previous ODI against England earlier this month. With the wicket of Rehan Ahmed in the third ODI in Chattogram, he got the landmark. After Jayasuriya and Daniel Vettori, he became the third left-arm spinner to achieve this milestone.


He is also Bangladesh’s highest wicket-taker in Tests and Twenty20 Internationals, with 231 and 128 wickets, respectively. In addition, Shakib is the fifth-highest wicket-taker in T20s with 443 wickets. In T20 cricket, he is one of only two players – Dwayne Bravo is the other – to have 6000 runs, 400 wickets, and 50 catches.
