Sanju Samson’s ODI comeback presents golden opportunity to seal World Cup spot

Sanju Samson, the Indian cricketer, has often struggled to find a consistent place in the national team. After being dropped for the Bangladesh tour, Samson has now made a comeback to the ODI squad for the series against West Indies.

With Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul absent, Samson has the opportunity to prove himself and secure a spot in the upcoming ODI World Cup.

Former India coach Ravi Shastri believes that Samson is yet to fulfill his potential and hopes to see him become a star player.

Shastri drew a parallel with Rohit Sharma’s role in the team and emphasized Samson’s importance. Samson will be eager to make an impact and showcase his skills in the upcoming series. This is a crucial chance for him to prove his worth and stake his claim for a spot in the World Cup squad.

“Sanju (Samson) is yet to realise his potential. He is a match-winner. There is something that is missing. I will be disappointed if he does not finish his career all guns blazing. It is like when I was the coach, I would have been disappointed if Rohit Sharma had not played in my side as a regular Test player. Hence, his opening the batting. I feel similar with Sanju,” Shastri was quoted as saying by The Week.
