Sanju Samson poised for comeback in India’s West Indies Tour

Rajasthan Royals’ wicketkeeper-batsman, Sanju Samson, is set to stage a comeback during India’s tour of West Indies. After missing out on the Sri Lanka and New Zealand T20Is, the RR skipper is expected to be included in the ODI and T20I squads for the Caribbean tour. Samson, who has often found himself in and out of the side without consistent opportunities, will now have a chance to showcase his talent in the absence of several senior players.

Having last played a T20I against Sri Lanka, Samson subsequently suffered a hamstring injury. He participated in the IPL but struggled to find his rhythm with the bat, managing only 360 runs in 13 innings. As India faces West Indies, the wicketkeeper-batsman will be eager to make the most of his chances and contribute significantly.

With Rishabh Pant ruled out of the team until at least the ODI World Cup, Samson, along with Ishan Kishan, is poised to receive ample opportunities. Not only in T20Is, but Samson is also likely to be considered for the ODI squad, especially with KL Rahul’s injury paving the way for his inclusion as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the 50-over format.

With the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj either rested or nursing injuries, Samson is expected to be granted an extended run in both the ODI and T20I teams.
