Sanju Samson and Rahul Tripathi neglected by selectors despite 400+ runs at 150+ strike rate in IPL 2022

RR skipper Sanju Samson and SRH batter Rahul Tripathi wasn’t included in the squad for the upcoming India-South Africa series despite a brilliant performance in IPL 2022.

Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Sanju Samson wasn’t picked in the T20I squad by the Indian cricket team selectors for the upcoming ‘South Africa tour of India’. Sanju Samson did play well in the IPL 2022 as his strike rate is 150+ and was one of the important run-getters for Rajasthan Royals this season.

Not only Sanju but there’s another Indian batter named Rahul Tripathi who scored more than 400 runs at a 150+ strike rate. He was also one of the important batters for SRH this season. Despite this amazing performance from these two batters, they were neglected by the selectors.

Some fans feel the squad selectors have picked up for the South Africa series should not include one or two players namely Ruturaj Gaikwad, and KKR opening batter Venkatesh Iyer. Fans think both these players weren’t good enough to make it to the Indian T20I squad for the upcoming South Africa series. Last season’s ‘Orange cap’ winner Ruturaj Gaikwad scored only 368 runs this season with an average of just 26.2. Whereas Venkatesh Iyer scored 182 runs in 12 matches he played this season. Thus, some fans feel that Indian selectors may have missed out on some good players like Rahul Tripathi and Sanju Samson for this ‘South Africa tour of India.’
