Steve Smith was found guilty of scuffing the marks of Rishabh Pant in the 3rd Test at Brisbane after which he came into the limelight on social media. The gamesmanship of Smith was questioned by many cricketers as Rishabh Pant had to take fresh guard.
Ahead of the final Test, Team India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour said wicket-keeper batsman Pant was unaware of the ‘pitch scuffing’ done around the batting crease during the third Test.
“Basically, we didn’t even know about the incident. We knew only after the game when the media picked it up. As a batsman, Rishabh Pant wasn’t even aware. I wouldn’t like to comment as it hardly mattered,” Rathour said on Thursday.
The Australian second inning ended with 294 onboard with the help of Smith’s knock of 55 in 74 balls. Mohammad Siraj’s fifer helped India to wind up Aussie’s inning with a low score.
