He added that he had informed the MI management if he can play the rest games or not. He felt that he needed rest for sometime that’s why he pulled himself out of the rest of the league stage matches. He said to the management that even if he felt little discomfort before the playoffs he wouldn’t play those matches. But as he got better he played the playoffs matches and eventually led Mumbai Indians to their fifth IPL title.

The team for the Australian tour was declared during this time and Rohit Sharma was left out of all three squads. The reason given was that they will monitor the injury of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma. They decided to take call on their selection later on. But as Rohit played the playoffs matches everyone questioned BCCI’s call as Rohit was looking perfectly fine in the playoffs matches and didn’t seem like he was in any kind of pain while playing. This sparked outrage as people started speculating various things around his removal from squad.

Rohit came out and cleared all the doubts and spoke about his injury. He said that he felt he could play the playoffs for MI as it is the shortest format and will get plenty of time to recover as well. He said that it was in his best interest that he is not playing the limited overs as it will be too hectic. He added that India is supposed to play 6 matches in almost 11 days. He felt that it is only correct for him to fully be prepared for the tests.  He feels that this 25 day break will help him recover and the staff at NCA is providing the best services to make sure he is fully recovered as soon as possible.

He then spoke about his dream run at the IPL with MI. He said that the team is being criticized for having star players around the globe. He said that this success didn’t come overnight. All the players in this team were available at the auction. The MI management backed each and every player, built this team over the years and now they are delivering with everything that was expected from them.
