Robin Uthappa announces retirement from all forms of cricket

Hard-hitting batsman Robin Uthappa has decided to end his 20-year professional career in Indian cricket as well as other domestic tournaments by declaring his retirement from all formats. The 36-year-old shared his decision on Twitter and expressed excitement for the opportunity to ‘chart a new era in his life’ and spend time with his young family.

Uthappa participated in the 2007 winning T20 World Cup campaign and played for India in 59 games (46 ODIs and 13 T20Is). Uthappa, a top-order batsman on the rise, established his name in the 2006 Challenger Trophy in Mohali with a century. In his first ODI, he scored 86 runs against an England attack that included James Anderson, Liam Plunkett, and Sajid Mahmood in Indore.
