Ravindra Jadeja, who played a crucial knock against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar trophy despite having an injury will be unavailable for the Test series against England starting from 5 February 2021.
Jadeja had dislocated his left thumb while batting during the first innings in the third Test in Sydney, underwent surgery in Australia but will need six weeks to recover. Jadeja recently dropped down to number 3 in ICC Test All-rounders ranking as he hasn’t played the 2 matches against Australia.
India is scheduled to play 4 Tests against England at their home ground and the team for the first two matches has already been announced. The test is scheduled from 5 Feb to 8 March, and then after 5 T20Is and ODIs. The first two Tests will be played at Chennai and the next two scheduled at Ahmedabad.
Captain Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma, and Hardik Pandya are making their comeback against England. The young unit Mohammad Siraj, Shubhman Gill, and Shardul Thakur also will be in the team after their splendid performances in Gabba.
