In the ICC rankings released on Wednesday, India’s Ravichandran Ashwin lost six rating points but remained joint number one Test bowler with England’s James Anderson.
Ashwin, who rose to No. 1 in the Test bowling rankings last week, took only four wickets in the third Test against Australia in Indore. Australia won by nine wickets, their first victory on Indian soil since 2017.
It means there is now a tie for first place, with Ashwin and Anderson both having 859 points.
The race to become the best Test bowler in the world has heated up, with Australian captain Pat Cummins, South African speedster Kagiso Rabada, and spinner Nathan Lyon all in the mix.
