Indian cricketer, Ishant Sharma has been out of reach by the Delhi District Cricket Association. He has not sent any kind of confirmation regarding his availability for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2021-22, making his Test career uncertain.
Ishant did not get an opportunity to play in the three-match Test series in South Africa. He last played for India in the first Test against New Zealand in 2021.
Ishant is lacking behind in the race because of strong competition like Mohammad Siraj, Umesh Yadav for the third seamer in the side and he couldn’t make comeback in his last game as well.
Along with Ishant, players like Wriddhiman Saha, Ajinkya Rahane, and Cheteshwar Pujara are also seeming to lose their spots in the Test team.
As per TOI news, BCCI mentioned the management is looking ahead of the four veteran players, who haven’t given results as they should have. Saha states his absence for the Bengal in the upcoming Ranji Trophy, while Rahane and Pujara have been named in their respective state teams to rejuvenate form.
A BCCI source mentioned that they have been told that the management is looking to prepare the next set of players. Their chances of playing Test matches would drop drastically.
“Things don’t look flowery for Rahane and Pujara too. They are playing Ranji Trophy which is a good sign. They are walking a tight rope though,” BCCI further added as per TOI news.
