Rahul and Rohit’s centurion opening stand helps India clinch T20I series

Rohit and Rahul scored yet another 50+ partnership, their fifth in fact in a row. They later converted it to a 100-run partnership.

Following two bad matches in the T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have found the rhythm of their lives. The duo got on to a great start against Afghanistan in their third game of the tournament, and since then, they have been keeping up the good work. And it was yet again on display as the two players scored yet another 50+ partnership, their fifth in fact in a row. They later converted it to a 100-run partnership, in which KL Rahul contributed immensely with his fifty.

Winning toss yet again, Rohit Sharma asked New Zealand to bat first. The Kiwis got on to a great start, but towards the end of their 20 over were restricted by Indian bowlers for just 153. The opening batters for the Indian team came to the crease with the same intent as always. It was KL Rahul who was the aggressor while Rohit played the anchor. However, after the powerplay got over, the two batters were caught up in a muddle. There came a phase when they were struggling to score boundaries. But then captain Rohit stepped up to smash 2 sixes of Mitchell Santner’s second over to momentum his side. After that, it felt as if the flood gates opened up, and the batters smashed every bowler alike. Whether it was Trent Boult or Adam Milne, both went for runs. They reached the milestone of 100 runs in the 12th over and almost sealed India’s game.
